Maintaining security within Ikorodu Local Government area as a whole is becoming a big problem. Security challenges are often the direct consequences of population growth. It is worth acknowledging, the good work of the Nigeria Police in Ikorodu, within the limits of the resources placed at their disposal. We should mention the contribution of the Neighbourhood Watch to fight crime. Sacrifices were also made by various individuals and the Police Public Relations Committee, Ikorodu. Local newspapers such as Oriwu Sun have also played vital role by reporting incident and perpetrators of crimes promptly.

Ikorodu local government had been assisting the Police. A brand new Peugeot 504 pick-up van was donated by the Local government, for the patrol operations of the Police, while the Local government had been responsible for fuelling the Police vehicles on patrol duties, on monthly basis. The cooperation of the people are essential in terms of intelligence gathering and more assistance are still needed from the industrial communities in Ikorodu, in order to ensure that no criminal find a haven in Ikorodu.
